Everything you need to know about ordering caps and beanies through OOPBUY, from crown depth to yarn weight.
Cap Anatomy: Panels, Brim, and Closure
A quality cap starts with the panel count. Five-panel caps have a smoother front profile ideal for large embroidery. Six-panel caps are more structured and common for sport styles. The brim curve should hold its shape without looking like a taco shell, and the closure should adjust smoothly without fraying.
Interior sweatbands should be absorbent cotton or moisture-wicking mesh. Cheap polyester bands slide around and trap heat. Ask your agent to photograph the inside tag and sweatband before you green-light.
Beanie Yarns and Knit Types
Beanies range from thin acrylic slouch styles to thick wool cuffed designs. Acrylic is affordable and easy to care for but pills quickly. Wool blends offer better insulation and shape retention but require hand washing. Merino wool is the premium choice for softness and temperature regulation.
Ribbed knits stretch and recover better than jersey knits. If you have a larger head, look for batches with a high rib content or explicit deep fit notes. A beanie that rides up is usually too shallow in the crown.
Logo and Embroidery Standards
Cap embroidery should be dense, with clean edges and no visible bobbin thread on the front. Flat embroidery is easier to replicate well than 3D puff, which requires precise foam thickness and stitch coverage. Beanies with woven patches should have straight alignment and no glue overflow at the edges.
Color accuracy is critical for team and brand caps. Thread colors can look different under warehouse lighting, so request outdoor or natural-light photos if the cap is a specific team or brand colorway.
Care and Storage Tips
Caps should be stored crown-down or on a rounded form to preserve the shape. Avoid stacking heavy items on top. Beanies should be folded rather than hung, as hanging stretches the ribbing over time. Wash both types infrequently and spot-clean when possible to preserve color and structure.
If a cap brim loses its curve, reshape it by hand and store it with a rubber band around the brim overnight. Never put caps or beanies in a dryer.
